What we do

Aris is a place to spend the day: active when you want to be, quiet when you don’t. Every member has a personal plan built around their interests, abilities and the support they need.

  • Gentle movement, every day

Seated and standing classes for strength, balance and flexibility, adapted for every body, wheelchairs included.

  • Art, music and conversation

Painting, music sessions, discussion groups, games and clubs led by people who enjoy them as much as members do.

  • Lunch and snacks, catered

A freshly prepared lunch and afternoon snack, with dietary needs taken care of.

  • Garden time and quiet corners

Time outdoors when the weather allows, and a quiet room for rest, reading or a nap.

  • Personal support from a caring team

Help with getting around, washrooms and the day’s routine. A personal assessment before the first visit makes sure Aris is the right fit.

  • Updates for family

Families hear how the day went and review the plan together with us as needs change.

Why it’s good for older adults

Staying at home is what most people want as they age. Spending days alone at home is a different thing. Aris fills the day with the things that help people stay well, connected and independent for longer.

Company and friendship

Loneliness wears on health. A regular place to see familiar faces, share a meal and laugh makes a real difference to how the week feels.

Stronger, steadier bodies

Regular gentle exercise supports strength, balance and confidence on your feet, which matters for staying independent.

An engaged, active mind

Painting, music, conversation and games keep the mind busy in ways that are enjoyable rather than effortful.

A rhythm to the week

Something to get ready for, people expecting you, a reason to get out of the house. Routine brings comfort and purpose.

Eating well

A good lunch in company. People tend to eat better at a shared table than alone at the kitchen counter.

Dignity and choice

Members are adults with their own tastes. They choose what to join, when to rest and how they spend their day.
